The 21st November 2011 saw the start of this year’s hotly contested Foil Competition. It was to run over two weeks and include most members, even those who usually practise épée and sabre. It seems few could resist the lure of the foil. To accommodate the numbers, the first round was held as both steam and electric (otherwise it might still be going on!) which gave everyone a chance to practice their reffing skills as well as their foil technique.
At the end of the poules, Katie was seeded number 1. The direct elimination rounds were all held on the box and Chris cruised through to victory without anyone troubling him too much. Second was Jenny Morris who also took the trophy as highest placed Lady Foilist (or is that foiliste?) with Kate Hoctor and Paul Hunt coming joint third.
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the club members who contributed to making the competition such fun. Thanks also go to Jenny for organising everything and making sense of the poule sheets.
