The Hampshire Open Fencing Competition is run by the members of Portsmouth & Southsea Fencing Club and Seacourt Fencing Club.
In 2011 we changed venues to the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth and included épée for the first time to make this a 3 weapon open competition. We will keep this format, which we found to be very successful, and hope that each year the competition will grow and attract more and more fencers.
We are delighted that The Hampshire Open 2012 will also incorporate veterans fencing in all three weapons, which we hope will make the competition even more popular and attractive to fencers of all ages. The veterans competition will run on the opposite day to the seniors event, so that sprightly veterans will have the opportunity to fence on both days. Why not come and make a whole weekend out it?
Our aim is to run a friendly and well organised open competition which gives participants a good day with as much fencing as possible. We realise that some people travel long distances to come to the event, so we try to include two round of poules wherever practical.
So please include the Hampshire Open in your fencing diary next year. We look forward to welcoming you to our local competition and wish you the best of luck!
