On Saturday 12 January, Hannah Mitchell represented Portsmouth & Southsea at the Aldershot Open 2013. Hannah was one of twenty-five women épéeists taking part in the competition.
Hannah was disappointed with her performance in the poules where she underperformed, leaving her in that dangerous position in the middle of the field.
However, by the time the DEs came round, Hannah started to fence better and got through into the last 16. Unfortunately, she was then up against the number 1 seed, but really fenced her socks off, only just losing.
In the end, Hannah finished 16th, but had a great day fencing and was comforted by the fact that she had eventually found form, albeit a little late on.
