Portsmouth & Southsea Fencing Club is a busy fencing club catering for all three weapons: foil, épée and sabre. The club has been meeting for several years and meets at St Edmund Catholic School, Upper Arundel Street, Portsmouth. Portsmouth & Southsea is a friendly club and welcome visitors, whether they are just there to try their hand at a new sport or whether they are old hands who want a good night’s fencing.
What you can expect on a Club Night
Club nights take place on Monday evenings at 7.30pm. Each session begins with a group warm-up with everyone taking part. After the warm-up, general fencing takes place. On a typical night there are four electric boxes in use which allows electric fencing for foil, épée and sabre. There is also plenty of room for steam fencing which ensures a good night’s fencing for everyone.
Fencing Equipment available to borrow
The club has an extensive amount of kit available for fencers so that novices do not have to commit to buying everything all at once. There is also electric kit which can be used which comes in useful during club competitions (particularly when all the foilists become sabreurs for a night!!)
