The Sixth Week

We were all told to be at the AGM next week; Val said she would keep it short, I suggested she keep it sharp and to the point. The rest of the club decided to treat my comment with the distain it deserved, but Kate pointed out (groan), it was like something your dad would say!

After a warm up we had a recap of the basics, which I really like, I think the pursuit of the perfect technique is a fantastic journey, and only gives an individual a better foundation. Aggression, fitness and mental focus are all definitely required, but if your technique is poor, well, we all know the story about the house built on sand and the other on rock.

Had a supervised sparring session with Kate, the fact it was a little slower and more deliberate made it a better learning experience, legging it up and down the hall is good for the heart and lungs but I really want to focus on getting a really good foundation and apply correct technique so when the adrenalin kicks in at my first competition, the muscle memory will be correct and hopefully, return a better result.
