An Epee Champion for Portsmouth and Southsea

An Epee Champion for Portsmouth and Southsea

The fencers at Portsmouth and Southsea are utterly delighted and justifiably proud to have a champion in their midst after Jenny Morris won the Women’s Epee at the Aldershot Open 2014 this weekend.

Jenny admits she did not have high expectations of doing particularly well at the competition and, indeed, started off slowly in the poules. But by the time she was in the last 16 she had settled down, winning through the DEs to the final.

The final was a close fought bout and Jenny claims that, although she led throughout, she never thought she would actually win it. The score was 12-12 and then two double hits took it to 14-14. It was all to play for and Jenny totally committed to the last point, fleching her way to victory and the title.

So congratulations, Jenny, from all your clubmates at Portsmouth and Southsea. We want to see the medal next week!
