The Southern Region is having a novice foil competition coming up, which will be perfect for our new members to try out their new skills. The novice is a friendly event and it is a good opportunity for beginners/novices to get more experience fencing different opponents in a more competitive environment.
BFA membership will be required and is obtainable here. Membership does cost £40 a year, but that provides insurance and covers you for any competitions you wish to do in the year. For further advice on BFA membership, please ask Jenny or Val.
The competition is being held on 12th May at the University of Reading Sports Park, Shinfield Road, Reading RG2 7BW. You can find the entry form here. Novices should be there to check in at 9am and ready to fence at 9.30am.
There will also be a senior competition with a check in time of 12.30 with a 1pm start.
Anyone interested in going to the competition should ask Jenny or Val to ask if they need to borrow any kit and what they should take with them. Please do give it serious consideration – you’ll have fun!
