Portsmouth & Southsea Fencing Club is extra proud this week because one of their members has taken not one, but two medals at the Veteran European Team Championships in Porec, Croatia.
Jenny Morris represented Great Britain in all three weapon teams this year. The epee team fought hard but had no luck and came in eighth.
Jenny’s foil team fared much better with an extremely hard fought fight for third place against Italy. The fight went all the way to the last bout, with Team Captain Gillian Worman putting in a real captain’s performance to win the match. Bronze medal secured!
On the last day of the competition, the women’s sabre team went into battle with Jenny as reserve. The girls eased their way into the final against Germany and an extremely tense match followed. Unfortunately, the Germans were too strong and won the match 5-2, but the team had still earned the silver medal.
